Obedience should be fun yet challenging for your dog. They love challenges and learning! Obedience training provides mental stimulation which is a key to their mental sanity.

Obedience should NOT change your dog’s personality – if anything, it should enhance it. Obedience is the most important ingredient for your dog to live a full and happy life. It provides a “language” for you and your dog to communicate through, using words like Heel, Sit, Come, Down and Place.

All of our obedience programs are designed to achieve full off leash reliability, so we will make sure he understands these words are “mandatory” and not “optional”.  Once he understands, his freedom level will go through the roof!  The KEY with any obedience program is to ensure your dog does all the commands around distractions like strangers and other dogs, otherwise they will be of little use to you.

If you can trust your dog to “Come” every time you say come – then he will get to go more places, be off leash more, and run and play like dogs are designed to do! Dogs were not created to be confined all the time.  They love freedom, being able to explore, but the only way your dog will be allowed this freedom is if they are reliable without the leash. Obedience is great for abused or nervous dogs too – the confidence that it provides them is PRICELESS.

Other things obedience will provide are: mental stimulation, socialization, bonding experience, and many learning opportunities.

We can teach our obedience programs at your place or ours.

Training at Your Place

We come to your house for each lesson. We do like to have a couple lessons toward the end in a really distracting place – a park or shopping center to ensure the commands will transfer anywhere. All obedience programs include group lessons once you have completed your in home program. Each obedience program includes unlimited lessons until we reach our goals.

Training at Our Place

This program is not like “boot camp” but more like “summer camp”: you get the same results as boot camp, only they get to have fun in the process. Your dog will stay with us for 14 days and learn the “language” of obedience. We will then bring him home and teach you how to speak this “language” with him. And don’t worry about not going through the “bonding” experience of this teaching process – you will get more than enough bonding experiences when you get to practice this new language in all the new places you go with him. It works just as well as doing it in your home, only it’s faster and you get to start using the techniques instantly. You get unlimited follow up lessons until you achieve the same level of control we will gain. Obviously, your dog’s issues will determine a lot of how we do the 14 days, but the majority of dogs will get to do the following during the 14 day training program: learn all the obedience commands (off leash reliable), go out to parks, shopping centers, and get to a TON of playtime with other dogs.

Group Obedience Lessons

Group lessons are included in all our obedience programs. We start with individual lessons, and once your dog has mastered those distractions, you can start group classes or what we like to call “distraction city”.  You can come to as many group lessons as you like for the life of your dog! These classes are designed to give you an extremely distracting place to practice and also to provide continuing education for your dog. We hold our group classes intermittently at different spots all over town. Check with Patrick to see when the next class will be!
